STEAMPUNK.....I learn something new everyday.

Before today I had never heard of this term. So I had to go and do some google investigating.
While I have noticed that this sub-culture was moving slowly into fashion design and home decor, I didn't know it actually had a formal description and such a huge following. While I am not into Victorian, Punk or Fantasy I do find the industrial aspects of this culture to quite interesting. Look at her dress. It is HOT!! I am sure we will see more of this in the fashion world in seasons to come.

Here is a wikipedia description of steampunk.

Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.
Steampunk is often associated with
cyberpunk and shares a similar fanbase and theme of rebellion, but developed as a separate movement (though both have considerable influence on each other). Apart from time period and level of technological development, the main difference between cyberpunk and steampunk is that steampunk settings usually tend to be less obviously dystopian than cyberpunk, or lack dystopian elements entirely.
Various modern utilitarian objects have been
modded by individual artisans into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style, and a number of visual and musical artists have been described as steampunk

Lovely Gifts under $70.00 from Ontario, Canada..............ALL Handmade
Last night I receive a lovely request from a sweet young lady from Canada. She wanted to know if we would be interested in carrying her line in our shop. I quickly took a look at her line and immediately said YES!! This line is so wonderful for so many reasons. It is handmade, nature inspired, all natural elements, a bit girly but not too much for my liking. The best thing is that the line is so affordable and will be so easy to give as gifts for the season.

The Pure Collection: Coming soon
Summer Time When the Living is Easy.... Organic-Cotton-New York
I don't care what the media is saying. Back to school Blaahh! Who cares?? Summer is still here and will be around for quite a bit longer.
I don't believe in following seasonal fashion/retail trends set by crazy money hungry retailers and the big box nuts, if they had it their way they would already have ugly Halloween displays all over their shops, and it is only Aug. 10th.!!!
So in my own celebration of summer and the heat. All of our white lounging apparel is on sale at Botany's Desire.
Limited quantities available. So hurry in. See ya
